In Details

“Live by Night” is set in the roaring `20s’ when Prohibition hasn’t stopped the flow of booze in an underground network of gangster-run speakeasies.  The opportunity to gain power and money is there for any man with enough ambition and nerve and Joe Coughlin, the son of the Boston Police Deputy Superintendent, long ago turned his back on his strict upbringing for the spoils of being an outlaw.  But even among criminals there are rules and Joe breaks a big one: crossing a powerful mob boss by stealing his money and his moll.  The fiery affair ends in tragedy, setting Joe on a path of revenge, ambition, romance and betrayal that propels him out of Boston and up the ladder of Tampa’s steamy rum-running underworld.

Follow the story to Tampa, famous for its beautiful sunsets, and on to historic Ybor City.  Ybor plays a key role in illustrating the events, with its colourful past covering prohibition, cigars and the immigrants who shaped the city.  These are all brought to life on an exclusive day tour, which delves into the archives of the 1920s and the vibrancy of the period.

Travel by faithfully reconstructed Street Car from Tampa to Ybor City.  The cars reached their height of popularity in the 20s and you can imagine the journey during those heady times.

No visit to Ybor City is complete without a meal at the biggest Spanish restaurant in the world, Colombia!  Opened in 1905, it has retained much of its original Cuban flavour while adding more contemporary dishes.  A chance too for exploration of the exciting nightlife in Ybor.  Club Prana has attracted world class DJs since its inception; it’s the place to live by night!
